Let there be content!

Okay… It is time to actually put some content up here. I have a few projects that have been rolling around in the back of my head for a while now, and this website was literally made so that I could share them and motivate myself to work on them some more. To get things started, I want to make posts about four different things.

Astrophotography

I already have a head start on the first item. I have long held a fascination with space and its extreme vastness. After years of thinking about it, I finally got myself a nice telescope and have started taking pictures through it. It is a difficult hobby sometimes because I am left at the mercy of the elements. Often times, when there is an event that I want to observe, the sky will become cloudy, or worse, it will rain. It can be really frustrating. But when it all comes together, as with my photo of the Orion Nebula, it is extremely rewarding!

Terrestrial Photography

As a young man, I did not care much for photography. I mean sure cameras were cool, but I had no real eye for what made for a good photograph. However, as I start to age I find myself more interested in the topic and have even started using Instagram to share some random stuff. As a result I have decided to try and improve in this area and actually learn some technique and theory. I plan to use this site to post pictures as I work through this process. This will include buildings, landscapes, portraits, and of course cats.

Homebrew Computer

This is an extremely ambitious project. I want to build a computer… from scratch. This would not be a modern PC like I have on my desk. It would be more akin to the early PCs back in the 1980s. I want to design and build the hardware, create and operating system for it, provide a user interface, and make it programmable. I want it to be a fully functional, general purpose computer that can run programs and store files, even if it is a little out of its time. This is an idea that seeded itself during my later years of college and I have already spent countless hours thinking through various concepts for its design. My goal is to start documenting the project here in hopes that I will actually see it through to completion.

Constructed Language

This is another one of those projects that wormed its way into my head during college and refuses to leave. A constructed language, often called ‘conlang’, is a language that was consciously created, designed rather than evolving naturally over time. I think my first introduction to constructed languages was through the Klingon language in the Star Trek series. I can remember my parents getting a audio cassette tape narrated by Michael Dorn which taught some basic Klingon. Later I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy and experienced the various languages within the works of Tolkien. I was so impressed by the notion of developing a unique and original language. Since then I have seen numerous other works of fiction where the creators invent a fictional language and I always appreciate the effort. I laid down the groundwork for a constructed language of my own during my senior year at Drexel and I would like to build upon that, and document it here on this website.

Anyway, these are my current goals for the website. I will try to be better about posting more frequently, and I will definitely be adding much more content during the month of May. Stay tuned!
